{"id":771,"date":"2014-10-08T14:51:05","date_gmt":"2014-10-08T19:51:05","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.wisconsin.edu\/ehs\/?page_id=771"},"modified":"2017-12-19T09:03:43","modified_gmt":"2017-12-19T15:03:43","slug":"signatory-authority","status":"publish","type":"page","link":"https:\/\/www.wisconsin.edu\/ehs\/signatory-authority\/","title":{"rendered":"Signatory authority"},"content":{"rendered":"<h2>Signature authority<\/h2>\n<p>The University of Wisconsin Board of Regents (BOR) has a policy within\u00a0which documents\/ transactions require the signer to have recognized signature authority (<a href=\"https:\/\/www.wisconsin.edu\/regents\/policies\/real-property-contracts-signature-authority-and-approval\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">BOR policy 13-2<\/a>). Sometimes, questions come up as to whether or not certain waste management documents, such as hazardous waste manifests, are included in this policy.<\/p>\n<p>Waste manifests and other waste management documents are <strong>not<\/strong> covered under <a href=\"https:\/\/www.wisconsin.edu\/regents\/policies\/real-property-contracts-signature-authority-and-approval\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">BOR 13-2<\/a>, nor is there\u00a0another policy that would limit signatures on manifests.<\/p>\n<p>However, it is a good operational practice to control signature authority (i.e., specify certain departmental employees to sign) as these documents have potential long-term liabilities associated with them.
