Spending associated with campus operations, UW\u00a0Hospitals and Clinics, startups, students and visitors, and affiliated\u00a0organizations benefit a wide range of private sector businesses.<\/p>\n<p>Three sectors receive more than $1.5 billion each in annual economic\u00a0impact as a result of UW System economic activity:<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>Real estate<\/li>\n<li>Hospitals<\/li>\n<li>Computer services<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>Seven sectors receive annual economic benefits ranging from $220\u00a0million to more than $800 million:<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>Full-service restaurants<\/li>\n<li>Owner-occupied dwellings<\/li>\n<li>Construction<\/li>\n<li>Insurance carriers<\/li>\n<li>Wholesale trade<\/li>\n<li>Employment services<\/li>\n<li>Electric power generation<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>Other sectors that benefit from UW System economic activity include\u00a0general merchandise retail, offices of physicians, truck transportation,\u00a0hotels and motels, retail food and beverage stores, legal services, and\u00a0more (see Figure 5).<\/p>\n<blockquote><p>Overall, private sector companies\u00a0receive 75% of the economic benefit\u00a0that comes from UW System\u00a0economic activity.
