Summary of the Jeanne Clery Act
The Clery Act, also known as the Jeanne Clery Disclosure of Campus Security Policy and Campus Crime Statistics, is a federal requiring higher education institutions to have in place certain security and safety policies in place and to disclose certain crime statistics. The policies and statistics are published annually in a security report (ASR) to employees and students every October 1st. The ASR must include statistics of campus crime for the preceding 3 calendar years, plus details about efforts taken to improve safety of the campus.
