Thompson Center on Public Leadership<\/a>\u00a0to host a speaker series titled, \u201cBridging Civic and Public Health during a Pandemic.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>The speaker series, which will take place throughout the 2020-21 academic year, will include four speakers, featuring at least one elected public state official, who will explore the intersections of public health emergencies, citizenship and leadership. The series will cover historical lessons from previous pandemics and opportunities that have emerged from the current public health emergency and a message of hope and practical application. The speakers and topics will strategically build on each other\u2019s content and seek to answer the question, \u201cHow can we emerge from a public health emergency civically stronger, together?<\/p>\n<p><b>The first event will be held noon, Tuesday, Sept. 22,\u00a0 online via Zoom.\u00a0<\/b><a id=\"http:\/\/www.johnmbarry.com\/|\" href=\"http:\/\/www.johnmbarry.com\/\">Dr. John M. Barry<\/a><b>, author of the prize-winning and New York Times best-selling book,<\/b><a id=\"http:\/\/www.johnmbarry.com\/the_great_influenza__the_story_of_the_deadliest_pandemic_in_history__133171.htm|\" href=\"http:\/\/www.johnmbarry.com\/the_great_influenza__the_story_of_the_deadliest_pandemic_in_history__133171.htm\">\u201cThe Great Influenza: The story of the deadliest pandemic in history\u201d<\/a><b>\u00a0will present, \u201cWhat we can learn from history: the 1918 pandemic.\u201d<\/b><\/p>\n<p>\u201cWe are so grateful to the Tommy G.
