The University of Wisconsin-Parkside has been nationally recognized in a recent Forbes article for its innovative approach to workforce development and collaboration with local businesses.<\/p>\n

The article, titled “Colleges, Companies, And Communities Are Working Together To Improve Higher Ed,” highlights UW-Parkside\u2019s involvement with\u00a0Higher Expectations for Racine County<\/a>, working with educational, business, and community partners to improve outcomes for young people across the region.<\/p>\n

It also highlights the\u00a0Parkside Promise Plus program<\/a>, which covers any tuition not covered by federal and state grant aid and scholarships for Wisconsin students with limited resources.<\/p>\n

The Forbes article underscores the university\u2019s commitment to creating practical, real-world learning opportunities for its students. It notes that these collaborations are not only enhancing the educational experience but are also driving economic growth in the region.<\/p>\n

This work aligns with the vision of Chancellor Lynn Akey, who assumed leadership of UW-Parkside in January 2024. Dr. Akey\u2019s vision includes advancing the institution\u2019s mission to meet the educational needs of learners in Southeast Wisconsin and beyond. She advocates for a shift from being a \u201cprovider\u201d of education to becoming a \u201cpartner\u201d in education. Dr. Akey will be\u00a0inaugurated as the seventh chancellor<\/a>\u00a0of UW-Parkside on Thursday, Sept. 26.<\/p>\n
