Rocket Industrial\u2019s $25,000 gift to UWSP at Wausau will help qualifying students with a $1,000 scholarship towards earning their degree.<\/figcaption><\/figure>\n

Students at the University of Wisconsin-Stevens Point at Wausau will have additional scholarship opportunities thanks to gifts from a local business and the UW Wausau Campus Foundation.<\/p>\n

These scholarships, offered in three different increments based on grade point average, will be awarded through a $25,000 gift from Rocket Industrial in Wausau and $100,000 from the UW Wausau Campus Foundation\u2019s John Runkel endowment. It is the first time this fund will be used for general first-year student recruitment.<\/p>\n

The Runkel Merit Award will allow students with a GPA of 3.6 and higher to qualify for a $3,000 scholarship and those with a 3.0 to 3.59 GPA to qualify for $2,000. The Rocket Industrial gift will fund $1,000 for those with a 2.5 to 2.99 GPA.<\/p>\n

\u201cOur team at Rocket Industrial is deeply passionate about increasing enrollment at Wausau\u2019s four-year UW-Stevens Point campus. We believe this contribution may play a small role in helping achieve that goal,\u201d said Ryan Gallagher, Rocket Industrial chairman and CEO. \u201cWe hope this will entice other businesses to pony up, lean in and get involved as well.\u201d<\/p>\n

\u201cI\u2019m grateful for the contributions of the Rocket Industrial and the Runkel fund, as they recognize the need for student support and financial assistance at our Wausau campus,\u201d said Chancellor Thomas Gibson. \u201cThese scholarships will make it easier for area students to achieve their educational goals and conveniently earn degrees close to home.\u201d<\/p>\n

UWSP at Wausau offers associate, bachelor\u2019s and master\u2019s degrees through in-person, hybrid and online courses, including a multidisciplinary degree that allows students to customize their bachelor\u2019s degree according to their interests and career goals.<\/p>\n
