- UW-Milwaukee
was named one of the nation's Hot 100 Wired Colleges in the
October issue of Yahoo Internet Life magazine. Ranked
at No. 60, the university's "Web Portal," www.uwm.edu,
is given an A grade. Information and Media Technologies' Student
Technical Services earns special mention as a campuswide asset,
and helps UWM's Tech Support grade hit A+. UWM was the only
UW System school on the list.
- Modern
Maturity magazine, in its July-August 2001 issue, lists
two UW Colleges distance education courses among its Top 10
online classes for the fall. Political Science 275: International
Politics, is taught by UW-Marathon County's Angela Burger.
Sociology 250: People, Organizations, and Society, is taught
by UW-Richland's Wava Haney.

The website contains a link to a dive team's daily notes of
its exploration of a shipwreck in Lake Michigan, conducted
from Sept. 3 to Oct. 6.
- The UW-Madison
School of Education offers a list of Internet resources related
to the Sept. 11 terrorist attacks to assist educators and
others in helping children cope with the events. From the
school's Center for Instructional Materials and Computing
site, web users can access resources ranging from background
information to guides designed to help children deal with

- A new
UW-Extension website,
www.govtraining.org, offers one-stop shopping for government
managers and officials who want to expand or update their
skills. UW-Extension's Governmental Affairs Consortium, consisting
of Cooperative Extension's Local Government Center and the
campus-based continuing education offices on the Green Bay,
Madison, Milwaukee, Platteville and Superior campuses, is
sponsoring the project.
