With
tears, songs, speeches and prayers, UW System students, staff and faculty
have responded to the Sept. 11 terrorist attacks on the World Trade Center
and the Pentagon. Across Wisconsin, UW campuses sponsored commemorative
services in conjunction with the Sept. 14 National Day of Prayer and Remembrance.
Faculty members have addressed the terrorist attacks through campus-wide
teach-ins and classroom discussion, while student service officials have
offered counseling and support to grieving students. In addition, some
UW System students have been called to active military duty through the
Wisconsin National Guard and armed forces reserves.
