Program of Distinction Eligibility

Application Deadline:  February 15, 2008

You are eligible to apply for the Program of Distinction Award if your educational program:

  • Demonstrates an impact on student learning and/or teacher performance;
  • Is the result of collaboration among two or more educational sectors (e.g., school district, CESA, two and/or four-year college/university, community agencies, or professional organizations);
  • Prepares students to make successful educational transitions;
  • Reflects innovation, appropriate use of technology, research-based practice, and sensitivity to issues of diversity;
  • Has documented outcomes using reliable assessment methods; and
  • Is replicable across settings.

NOTE:  A Program of Distinction (POD) Award and Promising Practice designation will be awarded only once. However, Promising Practice recipients are encouraged to apply for a POD when they have documented teaching and/or learning outcomes using reliable assessment methods.

    • List of collaborative partners
    • Narrative program description
    • Letter of recommendation (one page maximum)
  • Supplemental materials (optional; not to exceed two pages; web site references permitted)

Selection Process

All applications will be screened for eligibility by the PK-16 Leadership Council staff to determine if they are complete and meet minimum qualifications. A committee consisting of Council staff and representatives from the Council will review all eligible applications.
