Each of the following programs meets or exceeds the criteria set forth in the application, including broad based collaboration and documentation of teaching and/or learning outcomes.

Green Bay Area Partners in Education

LakeView Advanced Technology Center

Prepares 9th through 12th grade students, working adults, and dislocated and displaced workers in one facility for high-tech, high-skilled jobs of tomorrow.

Learning in the Middle

A semester-long collaboration between St. Norbert College’s pre-service program and students at Washington Middle School.  Project topics include a significant and understudied historical figure in the field of aviation as well as the physical study of flight.

Expanding Excellence in Early Care and Education

An initiative designed to create high quality, flagship programs in collaboration with community agencies.  Outcomes include the establishment of innovative learning centers to disseminate best practices to other regional childcare programs.

2004 Promising Practices

The following programs met most of the criteria set forth in the application for a POD, with the exception of demonstrated teaching/learning outcomes.  In several instances, the programs represent recent innovations.  These programs may have collected base-line data and/or have established sound plans for documenting future teaching and/or learning outcomes.

Dane County New Teacher Project

Formed in August, 2002, as a focused affiliate program of the Wisconsin New Teacher Project (WNTP), DCNTP is a consortium of fourteen of the seventeen Dane County school districts collaboratively addressing new teacher induction and mentoring.

Finance Youth Apprenticeship

The Southwest Wisconsin Youth Apprenticeship Consortium Finance Program (a 2+2+2 model) targets high school juniors and seniors who are interested in learning more about the finance field.

Southeastern Wisconsin Assessment Collaborative

Alverno College works with school districts in their region to support the state’s call for a balanced assessment system, one that combines effective classroom assessment with the required yearly state tests.

Milwaukee Public School Design Project

An interdisciplinary program for middle and high school te3achers geared toward helping them meet new state design education standards, expand their use of technology in the classroom, and build cross-disciplinary teaching communities within the schools.

Future Designers

This program works with both teachers and students to provide experiential learning opportunities that focus on art and design and build upon relationships between K-12 and higher education.

Oak Grove Family Learning Center

This center provides a variety of programs and services for the region (e.g., distribution site for the Hunger Task force) and works with The Family Literacy Program to serve families in the area.
