Legislative Action
On July 27, the Assembly Ways and Means Committee passed AB 106 expanding the individual income tax deduction for college tuition expenses on a vote of 12-0.
Legislation Introduced
Representative Colon has introduced AB 576, which would allow a student who is not a legal permanent resident of the United States to pay resident, tuition. Legislative Hearing – Sept. 6
The day after Labor Day, Executive Senior Vice President Don Mash will provide the Colleges and Universities Committee an update on the APBS implementation. Rep. Hundertmark’s bill (AB 387) to create a loan forgiveness program for nurse educators will also receive a public hearing at that time.
