TSA Secure Flight Regulations - Effective August 2009
The TSA (Transportation Security Administration) has implemented new regulations that took effect on August 15, 2009. This involved changes to data collected when checking in for flights. TSA Secure Flight shifts pre-departure watch list matching responsibilities from individual airlines to the TSA. Secure Flight seeks to enhance the security of domestic and international commercial air travel through the use of improved watch list matching to identify known and suspected terrorists. TSA now requires airline carriers to collect specific information from travelers:
- Full Name that matches a non-expired government issued identification document
- Date of Birth
- Gender
- DHS Redress Number (if one exists…this is number that Department of Homeland Security assigns to travelers who have been continuously flagged with previous watch list alerts)
To prevent unnecessary delays at the airport, we highly recommend that travelers update their Cliqbook profiles to accommodate the changes. This would also be true of any brick and mortar travel agency that you use. We also encourage travelers to update their personal frequent flyer accounts to ensure that all account names match the information contained in their travel agency profile to eliminate any potential problems with receiving frequent flyer points due to mismatched information.
