The lack of details and short time frame for student input on a proposed tuition hike at UW-Eau Claire had members of a UW System Board of Regents committee skeptical that it would be approved by the end of 2009...

The UW System Board of Regents will meet at 9 a.m. today in Davies Center at UW-Eau Claire. No UW-Eau Claire proposals will be acted on, but the Regents are scheduled to vote on creating a new major and degree at UW-Stout in Menomonie. UW-Stout's newest major got approval Thursday afternoon from the Education Committee and will be voted on this morning by the full Board of Regents...

UW System

"University of Wisconsin reports stimulus impact," Associated Press, Oct. 16.

Only 137 jobs, many of them held by students, were created or saved at the University of Wisconsin System as a result of receiving $5.2 million in federal stimulus money. The university's audit, released Thursday, used a government formula to calculate the number of jobs based the number of hours worked on projects paid for with stimulus money...

"UW System expanding benefits to domestic partners," Student Voice, Oct. 15.

As a part of Wisconsin’s 2009 state budget, UW System employees will be eligible to receive domestic partner benefits beginning Jan. 1, 2010...

"UW System given $83 million in aid," Badger Herald, Oct. 16.

The University of Wisconsin System was awarded nearly $83 million in stimulus funds, with University of Wisconsin commanding the majority of that money, receiving $75.5 million for its 236 projects. With more than 800 grant applications submitted from UW System faculty and staff, Director of Research Communications Terry Devitt said many are still being considered and may be approved in the near future...

National
