...The annual cost of attending UWO has doubled since 2000, according to Chancellor Richard Wells. Annual fees and tuition came to $3,024 in the fall of 2000, compared to $6,114 last fall. Room and board was $3,234 in 2000, and $6,460 last fall. The university faces a double whammy - expenses related to running the university have increased at a pace ahead of regular inflation and at the same time the state has reduced its support. The only place to go to make up the difference is to the students, Wells said...

UW-La Crosse's textbook rental program has suspended new book purchases until the start of the next fiscal year, July 1, 2009. Increased costs and debt repayments from last year have resulted in more spending...
