After two phases of construction and a total of $10 million, the Oshkosh Sports Complex is ready to debut to the public and be used by local athletes. While the reporting was not inaccurate, the issues are sensitive and have a rich context, some of which is inevitably lost in a brief account...

Concordia University Wisconsin in Mequon has received an anonymous $1 million donation to help pay for the new School of Pharmacy - the second million-dollar gift in a month, officials announced Monday...

"Johns Hopkins University's research spending tops $1.5B," Baltimore Business Journal, Sept. 15.

Johns Hopkins University again tops all U.S. colleges and universities for research expenditures, spending $1.55 billion in fiscal year 2007...The University of California, San Francisco, with $843 million, and the University of Wisconsin, with $620 million, ranked behind Johns Hopkins University in research expenditures...

"Ph.D.'s are on the upswing, along with minorities in grad school," Chronicle of Higher Education, Sept. 16.

The number of doctorates awarded nationwide rose by 9 percent last year, says a report to be released today by the Council of Graduate Schools. The increase is up from a 5-percent boost between 2005 and 2006 and is the largest jump in the last seven years...

Duke University’s Fuqua School of Business announced ambitious plans Monday to develop a network of deep partnerships and branch campuses- what the dean calls a "physical presence of real scope and scale" - in Dubai, London, New Delhi, Shanghai and St. Petersburg. "It started with the intellectual question," said Blair Sheppard, the business school's dean. "You have to take a step back and say, 'If you wanted to be truly global, where must you be?'"...
