"Regents approve two new schools for UWM," Milwaukee Journal Sentinel, June 7.

The Board of Regents unanimously approved UW-Milwaukee's proposals for graduate-level schools of public health and freshwater sciences; if the Legislature also approves the proposals, students could enroll in the new programs as early as fall 2009.

"Regents back $1,400 tuition hike for UW-Madison engineering students," Associated Press, June 6.

The Board of Regents approved a differential tuition plan for engineering majors at UW-Madison starting in the fall.

Kikkoman Foods Inc. will establish a research and development laboratory and an environmental studies scholarship in cooperation with UW-Madison; the new laboratory will open in the fall of this year and will be located at University Research Park.

National

In February, a nationwide consortium of land-grant universities broadened its reach by publicly launching "eXtension," a website containing advice, research and information traditionally only offered by local extension offices.
