The Board of Regents voted today to increase pay for three new UW chancellors and the system president, making their salaries closer to the mid-point for leaders at peer public universities.

UW-Milwaukee Chancellor Carlos Santiago asked the Board of Regents to support the creation of a graduate-level School of Freshwater Sciences and a school of public health to help the campus become a leading urban research university; both proposals also require legislative approval.

At its meeting this week, the Board of Regents is expected to approve a 5.5 percent tuition increase at the four-year UW campuses and a tuition freeze at the two-year UW Colleges for the upcoming academic year .
