At the upcoming Board of Regents meeting, UW-Madison will set forth a proposal for differential tuition for engineering students.

Texas Tech student newspaper covers Tom Anderes's upcoming move to the UW System to fill the position as senior vice president for administration and fiscal affairs no later than Aug. 1.

On Campus

"Are low salaries causing a brain drain from UW-Madison?" Capital Times, May 28.

A UW-Madison law professor received a job offer that would have significantly increased her salary; although she refused the offer, the occurrence again raised concerns that the campus does not have the finances to retain quality personnel.

"UW-Madison chancellor search: Mulcahy withdraws name," Capital Times, May 27.

Citing professional and personal interests, candidate Tim Mulcahy from the University of Minnesota has withdrawn his name from the pool of finalists for the UW-Madison chancellor position.

State

"State drops out of top 10 for taxes," La Crosse Tribune, May 28.

Wisconsin's state and local taxes have dropped to the 11th highest in the United States, this is the first time the state has not been in the top 10 since 1980.

"Job market is hot for graduates who have the right degrees," Milwaukee Journal Sentinel, May 28.

Engineering degrees are the most desirable for employers this year, but they value experience and "soft skills" as well.
