The Marathon County Board plans to acquire property to allow UW-Marathon County to proceed with plans for a learning resource center and additional campus parking.

The national organization Students for Concealed Carry on Campus recently formed a local chapter on the UW-Madison campus.

"UW to launch athlete adjustment program," Daily Cardinal, April 10.

UW-Madison is starting a new program, the Life Skills Academy, to help freshman student athletes adjust to college life, in part through mentoring by upperclassmen athletes; the program is based on a model developed by the NCAA.

A report released this week indicates the income gap between rich and poor Wisconsinites is growing; the report was published by two non-profit groups, the Wisconsin Council on Children and Families and the Center on Wisconsin Strategy.

"New bill in Congress would mandate campus alerts within 30 minutes of an emergency," Chronicle of Higher Education, April 10.

The U.S. House of Representatives is proposing a bill that would require colleges and universities to alert their campus communities within 30 minutes of a confirmed emergency. (paid subscription only)
