UW-Whitewater will begin the construction of a new residence hall in October; it is slated to be completed in the fall of 2010 and will have capacity for 446 students.

The second phase of construction for the Oshkosh Sports Complex will begin this month; UW-Oshkosh announced that it has raised $4 million of the $4.3 million needed to fund the construction.

National

"Elite colleges report record lows in admission," New York Times, April 1.

Many colleges have become even more competitive with some admission rates at 7 or 8 percent.

"Higher ed dips into the pork barrel again," Inside Higher Ed, April 3.

The Citizens Against Government Waste recently released its annual Pig Book summary which shows that earmarks for the 2008 fiscal year are at the second-largest number on record.
