Five million dollars has been donated to UW-Stout; a portion of the donation will go towards the construction of a new UW-Stout Center for the Study of Ethics.

"UW-L hires new provost," La Crosse Tribune, March 18.

Kathleen Enz Finken is the new provost and vice chancellor for academic affairs at UW-La Crosse.

"Vote nears on financing plan for Iraqi student project," Wisconsin Public Radio, March 17.

In April, UW-Madison students will vote on a proposal by the nationwide Iraqi Student Project to raise tuition to help students from Iraq come to UW-Madison to finish their degrees; the non-binding vote is in an effort to encourage the Board of Regents to consider a tuition plan that would make the project a reality.

"Hazing popular, survey finds," Milwaukee Journal Sentinel, March 16.

A new national survey shows that over half of college students in campus organizations have experienced hazing.

"Job outlook good for college grads, survey shows," Appleton Post-Crescent, March 18.

A survey by the National Association of Colleges and Employers reveals that employers are planning to hire 16 percent more 2008 college grads than the previous year.

"Sexual offenders getting U.S. aid," Associated Press, March 17.

A Pell Grant loophole allows sexual offenders to take higher education classes while in treatment centers; however, prison inmates and students convicted of specific drug offenses are ineligible for the grants.

College counseling centers around the nation are seeing decreases in resources as students needing the counseling services are steadily increasing; this is a growing problem across the UW System says Gregg Heinselman, associate vice chancellor for student affairs at UW-River Falls.
