The Regents approved increased pay ranges for the UW-Madison chancellor, UW System president, and 11 chancellors of four-year institutions.

UW-La Crosse Transfer Admissions Counselor Barbara Martin-Stanley has been named 2008 UW System Woman of Color in Education; the award was established in 1994 and honors sixteen women from around the state.

The new Center of Health Sciences at UW-Parkside was created to provide trained health professionals where they are needed most.

UW-La Crosse, along with a few other higher education institutions in the western part of the state, have received 10 percent more applications over last year's numbers at this time.

UW Hospital reports a lower rate of lung transplants than other hospitals due to the high-risk nature of the procedure.

"UW-RF to participate in pilot sustainability rating system," River Falls Journal, Feb. 8.

UW-River Falls has been selected, along with more than 90 other college campuses, to take part in a pilot program developed by the Association for the Advancement of Sustainability in Higher Education.

"UWO braces for budget shortfall," Oshkosh Advance-Titan, Feb. 11.

UW-Oshkosh Chancellor Richard Wells tells staff that money-saving precautions will be put into place due to state budget shortfall.

"Protecting nature is message of UW-EC's Leopold weekend," Eau Claire Leader-Telegram, Feb. 10.

UW-Eau Claire's Environmental Adventure Center will hold an event reflecting the "Land Ethic" ideals of conservationist and writer Aldo Leopold.

Gov. Doyle's Grow Wisconsin Plan would aid full-time, low-wage workers in receiving tuition assistance for technical college training through a $1.5 million grant initiative.
