Hundreds of people came to pay respects in Waukesha on Sunday to the former Wisconsin governor who also served as UW-Stevens Point chancellor, and UW System regent.

"Prominent ALS researcher to leave Wisconsin," Channel3000.com, Jan. 4.

Dr. Benjamin Brooks, renowned ALS researcher, is leaving the University of Wiconsin Hospital and Clinics and is headed to Carolinas Medical Center where he will be director of an ALS research center; the move comes following the closing of Brooks' lab in 2003 by UW Medical School officials.

"Jack Storlie: UW-L's high-tech visionary," La Crosse Tribune, Jan. 7.

Jack Storlie, now 80, reminisces about his role in starting the computer science department at UW-La Crosse.

David William's, UW-Stout's vice chancellor, traveled as a Fulbright scholar to Germany where he shared insights into the art of fund raising.

An editorial stressing the impact a new engineering and research center at UW-Milwaukee would have on the region.

"WiCell wants to bank new stem cell lines," Wisconsin Technology Network, Jan. 7.

WiCell Research Institute, a subsidiary of the Wisconsin Alumni Research Foundation, is asking the National Institutes of Health for permission to house and distribute new cell lines.
