"Regents hear about booze, textbooks," Badger Herald, Dec. 7.

The Board of Regents hears presentations on reducing the cost of textbooks, recent stem cell discoveries, and the declining rates of binge drinking.

"Regents consider growth plan: Approval would increase UW-La Crosse tuition by $1,000 over two years," La Crosse Tribune, Dec. 7.

The Board of Regents business, finance and audit committee approved a plan to increase UW-La Crosse tuition to fund the campus's growth agenda; the whole board will consider the proposal today.

University of Wisconsin Hospitals and Clinics names Donna Katen-Bahensky as new president and CEO who hails from University of Iowa Hospitals and Clinics.

On Campus

UW-Madison and the National Institute for Health are engaging in talks regarding the funding of skin stem cell research.

"UW-Stout officials make a connection in Mideast," Eau Claire Leader-Telegram, Dec. 7.

UW-Stout Chancellor Charles Sorenson has entered into an understanding with the Mideast's first online college, based and funded in Dubai; the schools plan to pursue educational exchanges in the future involving staff, research, and continuing education.

"Shared inquiry master's program begins new semester," River Falls Journal, Dec. 7.

In January, UW-River Falls will begin the first semester of the new Master of Science in education professional development; this "Inquiry Program" meets one weekend a month and can be applied to all K-12 classrooms.

"Chancellor creates climate committee; group will work with Clean Commute on reducing emissions," UW-Eau Claire Spectator, Dec. 6.
