UW System enrollment increased 2.1% at its 26 campuses.

The Board of Regents will review the rising cost of text books, along with suggestions for improving the use of segregated fees.

"Proposed pay raise would help UW faculty," La Crosse Racquet, Dec. 5.

The Office of State Employment Relations recommends what equates to a 5% raise over the next two years for UW System faculty and staff; this is less than the 5.23% per year increase in each of the next four years intended by the UW System to bring wages closer to those at peer institutions.

A new bill introduced on Monday may allow UW faculty the option to unionize.

On Campus

"UW-EC address emergency preparedness," Dunn County News, Dec. 6.

Researchers at UW-Eau Claire created a prototype of a mathematical program that may help communities better prepare for emergencies.

"UWMC adds to System enrollment record," Wausau Daily Herald, Dec. 6.

UW-Marathon County enrolled 1,380 students this fall, a record high.

"Grothman: UW should back off on using ‘security fees’ to punish conservative speakers," Press Release, Office of Senator Glenn Grothman, Dec. 5.

State Senator Grothman intends to introduce legislation that will prevent UW-Madison from charging security fees for on-campus speakers; this is in response to a $1,200 bill UW-Madison charged the UW-Madison College Republicans for speaker David Horowitz.

"Sorority Safe House," WEAU, Dec. 5.

As part of UW-Stout's violence prevention program, a campus sorority plans to make their sorority house a safe zone for student victims of abuse.

"Stout grad finds calling with Ford," Eau Claire Leader-Telegram, Dec. 5.

A UW-Stout alum returned to campus to share with faculty and students his nearly 30 years of experience in the automobile industry.
