The UW System Board of Regents will consider new sick leave policies for faculty and academic staff, in response to questions raised by the Legislative Audit Bureau.

"Regents examine book prices," Badger Herald, Dec. 4.

A report produced by UW-Madison's Textbooks Cost Task Force will be shared at the Board of Regents meeting this Thursday.

"Hansen introduces collective bargaining bill," Green Bay Press-Gazette, Dec. 4.

Green Bay Democrat, Dave Hansen, introduced a bill that would allow UW System faculty and academic staff the option of unionization.

On Campus

"UW 10th in combo of academics and athletics," Capital Times, Dec. 3.

Stack magazine, a publication dedicated to high school athletes, ranked UW-Madison 10th for athletics and academics among NCAA Division I universities. North Carolina, Stanford and Texas rounded out the top three.

"UW-Madison sues over logo," Wisconsin State Journal, Dec. 3.

UW-Madison filed a federal trademark infringement lawsuit against Washburn University, a liberal arts college in Topeka, Kansas, over Washburn’s apparent use of the Motion W logo.

"Students may pay $700k to fund complex," Oshkosh Advance-Titan, Dec. 3.

UW-Oshkosh students have been asked to pay $700,000 in segregated fees to help support the second phase of the Oshkosh Sports Complex.

"Regents to vote on growth plan," La Crosse Tribune, Dec. 4.

UW-La Crosse’s Growth, Quality and Access plan will be reviewed by the Board of Regents on Friday. The plan seeks to increase enrollment by 500 students, and hire 20 more staff members and 75 more faculty members within the next five years.

"UW’s financial situation best in years, Wiley says," Daily Cardinal, Dec. 4.

Chancellor Wiley highlights the positive strides made by UW-Madison in the “State of the University” address.

"Study links good childcare with later-life success," Wisconsin Public Radio, Dec. 3.

A study done by the UW-Extension and the State Department of Workforce Development revealed that good childcare may result in skills that better equip students to face school and work.
