"UW System faculty and staff to get salary raises, critics say still too low," Daily Cardinal, Nov. 29.

A committee of the state Legislature voted to approve raises for UW System faculty and academic staff over the next two years, but the raises will not be enough to bring salaries up to the level offered by competing universities.

Student opinions about proposed segregated fee changes are being forwarded to UW System President Kevin Reilly for consideration before he announces a decision regarding the recommendations at the December Board of Regents meeting.

"Gay marriage ban lawsuit wins challenge," Capital Times, Nov. 29.

A judge has ruled in favor of a challenge to the state constitutional amendment banning gay marriage and civil unions brought by a UW-Oshkosh political science instructor, who said the question posed to voters was really two questions in one, violating a different part of the state's constitution.

Gov. Doyle signed legislation that will allow college students to take a leave of absence from classes without losing their health insurance.
