State Budget

"State budget a positive for UW-Stevens Point," Column, Stevens Point Journal, Oct. 26.

UW-Stevens Point Chancellor Linda Bunnell points to the many positive elements of the state budget as they pertain to higher education in Wisconsin, and the benefits to the UW-Stevens Point campus in particular.

"Huebsch and Doyle deserve credit for compromise budget," Editorial, La Crosse Tribune, Oct. 26.

This editorial commends Wisconsin's elected leaders for passing a badly needed budget after months of contentious debate.

An editorial arguing that the budget recently passed by the Legislature more closely resembles the Assembly's proposal.

UW System

"Salas quits Board of Regents in budget protest," Capital Times, Oct. 26.

Citing disagreement with items left out of the recently passed state budget, Regent Jesus Salas resigned from the UW System Board of Regents today; Salas had been a Regent since 2003.

On Campus

"UW microbiologists have a new home," Wisconsin State Journal, Oct. 26.

UW-Madison officials said the campus's new Microbial Sciences Building -- the largest building on campus -- was designed specifically to promote interaction and collaboration between researchers in varying fields.

"New position enhances UW-L campus health and wellness," La Crosse Tribune, Oct. 26.

UW-La Crosse's new Community Health Specialist will provide needed support for the campus in the area of preventing excessive alcohol consumption and other unhealthy practices among students.

"UW earns 'B+' for green practices," Daily Cardinal, Oct. 26.

UW-Madison ranked seventh out of 200 public and private colleges and universities evaluated on their environmental efficiency, earning a high mark for its "green practices."
