State Budget

"Tuition predictability needed," Column, Eau Claire Leader-Telegram, Sept. 25.

UW-Eau Claire Chancellor Brian Levin-Stankevich puts the UW System's operations in a business perspective, saying how the university provides a high-quality product to its customers at a good comparative value, but also how it must be able to control or predict its expenses and revenue intake.

"University System's state budget blues," Badger Herald, Sept. 25.

The UW System has received much legislative support from both political parties urging Wisconsin's elected leaders to adequately fund the university.

"Budget needs more than budge," Editorial, Wisconsin State Journal, Sept. 25.

This editorial urges the leaders of the Legislature to craft a budget by the end of this week; state residents could face a property tax increase if the Department of Public Instruction's budget is not set by Friday.

On Campus

"Milwaukee leaders defend UWM Public Health School," Column, Wisconsin State Journal, Sept. 23.

UW-Milwaukee Chancellor Carlos Santiago and Milwaukee Mayor Tom Barrett argue that a School of Public Health on the UW-Milwaukee campus will enhance the work being performed at UW-Madison's School of Medicine and Public Health while also providing a needed service to the state's largest city.

"UW-P connects with China," Dubuque Telegraph-Herald, Sept. 22.

UW-Platteville Chancellor David Markee recently signed an agreement that would bring a Confucius Institute to the campus; Confucius Institutes promote Chinese language and culture across the globe.
