On Campus

"UWM to seek $100 million," Business Journal of Milwaukee, Sept. 21.

UW-Milwaukee Chancellor Carlos Santiago said the campus will seek an additional $100 million in private donations -- on top of its current capital campaign for $100 million -- to help expand the campus and fund a number of crucial initiatives.

"UW-Madison receives $7.2 million stem cells ALS grant," Wisconsin State Journal, Sept. 21.

The National Institutes of Health gave UW-Madison stem-cell researchers a multi-million dollar grant to study ALS, more commonly known as Lou Gehrig's Disease.

"UWGB freshman seminars offer smaller class size," Green Bay Press-Gazette, Sept. 21.

UW-Green Bay offers 13 classes for first-year students specifically designed to increase engagement by keeping class sizes low.

"Acuity's new center at UW-S dedicated," Sheboygan Press, Sept. 21.

The recently dedicated Acuity Technology Center at UW-Sheboygan will provide students with wireless study rooms and a host of available laptops and desktop computers to enhance their educational experience; the dedication ceremony also included a tribute to former Dean Ray Hernandez, who is currently undergoing cancer treatment.

"UW-L stadium costs creep up to $17.1 million," La Crosse Tribune, Sept. 21.

UW-La Crosse Chancellor Joe Gow said the campus will have to account for a $1.5 million shortfall between levels of funding for the campus's stadium project approved by the State Building Commission and the actual project cost.
