State Budget

"UW supporters must stand up to detractors," Column, Capital Times, Sept. 19.

This column says Wisconsin residents who wish to see UW-Madison remain a world-class educational institution must stand up to those legislators who seek to slash its budget, along with that of the entire UW System..

"Separate, inadequate," Editorial, Milwaukee Journal Sentinel, Sept. 20.

The passage of a single state budget, as opposed to separate K-12 and local government budgets, would be the preferred option, and members of the Legislature's budget conference committee must work together to construct one.

On Campus

"Charting a new course at UW-Rock County," Janesville Gazette, Sept. 19.

A new education course at UW-Rock County -- offered in partnership with UW-Whitewater and slated to begin in spring 2008 -- will provide students with work and/or family obligations to more easily make progress on their education degrees.

"UW-L stadium moves closer to approval; Price tag rises to $15.6 million," La Crosse Tribune, Sept. 20.

The State Building Commission recently approved the stadium project at UW-La Crosse, which received significant financial support from the La Crosse community.

"Early ebola research at UW creates controversy," Capital Times, Sept. 20.

UW-Madison officials said at no time was the campus community in any danger whatsoever from disease research taking place there; the research has since been relocated to another facility in Canada.
