State Budget

"Legislative leaders should support UW System," Column, La Crosse Tribune, Sept. 16.

State Rep. Jennifer Shilling writes that the Legislature needs to provide support for the UW System now, both by providing adequate budget allocations and by celebrating the university's research and academic successes.

A republication of a July letter from UW-River Falls Chancellor Don Betz, UW-Eau Claire Chancellor Brian Levin-Stankevich and UW-Stout Chancellor Charles Sorensen outlining their and their colleagues' plans to revitalize the Western Wisconsin economy.

"Wisconsin Covenant draws praise, concern from area principals," Appleton Post-Crescent, Sept. 16.

Principals around Wisconsin said they agree with the goals and principles behind the Wisconsin Covenant -- a program wherein qualifying students will be guaranteed admission to a Wisconsin college or university -- but said they hope the program is adequately funded to maximize its effectiveness.
