Thousands of UW System students may not be able to afford tuition for the coming year due to an impasse in state budget negotiations that has resulted in uncertainties in the amount of funding the Wisconsin Higher Educational Grant will receive.

On Campus

"Polytechnic brand a key to marketing, chancellor says," Eau Claire Leader-Telegram, Aug. 28.

UW-Stout Charles Sorensen rolled out an ambitious growth and research plan for the campus, and other campus officials said its "polytechnic" brand will help attract and recruit students.

State

UW-Washington County's willingness to add a four-year engineering program to its offerings played a large role in a company deciding to expand its research and development enterprise in West Bend.

An Assembly group examining challenges with recent state-funded information technology projects said the addition of a state chief information officer would provide greater oversight for future IT projects.
