Officials from several UW System campuses said continued reductions to the university's budget by state officials would adversely affect campuses' ability to maintain adequate security measures.

On Campus

The Wisconsin Space Grant Consortium’s 17th annual conference -- held this year at UW-Superior -- will feature aeronautics presentations from UW System faculty and students.

State

This editorial lauds the accomplishments of Wisconsin high school students and their teachers, each of whom can take credit for Wisconsin's favorable showing in ACT scores and participation in 2007.

"Marshfield, UW partner to help rural patients," Editorial, Marshfield News Herald, Aug. 16.

The Wisconsin Academy of Rural Medicine, a partnership between the UW School of Medicine and Public Health and the Marshfield Clinic, will prepare as many as 25 UW medical students every year to work in rural settings, something that will be of immense benefit to Wisconsin residents who live outside a major metropolitan area.

"Wisconsin-Minnesota tuition deal OK'd," Associated Press, Aug. 16.

Wisconsin's Joint Committee on Finance voted 15-1 to approve revisions to the state's tuition reciprocity agreement with Minnesota; the updated agreement will not require Wisconsin students to pay additional tuition to attend a college or university in Minnesota.
