"UW schools join Doyle's call against GOP budget," Green Bay Press-Gazette, July 18.

UW-Green Bay Chancellor Bruce Shepard and UW-Oshkosh Chancellor Richard Wells joined Gov. Doyle in criticizing the state Assembly's proposed budget, which would eliminate $120 million in GPR base funding for the UW System, and severely hinder the university's plans for growth.

"Yes, it's silly, but there's a point," Editorial, Beloit Daily News, July 17.

In light of a Wisconsin legislator's bid to eliminate state funding for the UW Law School, this editorial suggests America should, indeed, change its litigious ways.

On Campus

"UWM to go solo in tech," Milwaukee Journal Sentinel, July 18.

The UW System Board of Regents granted approval for UW-Milwaukee to separate itself from the systemwide WiSys Technology Foundation, Inc. and create its own UWM Research Foundation to patent, license and spin-off companies from campus research and innovations.

"Parkside earns praise for diversity efforts," Editorial, Racine Journal Times, July 18.

This editorial lauds UW-Parkside's diversity efforts, saying they serve every student on the campus; UW-Parkside, with 20 percent of its student body comprised of students of color, is the most diverse campus in the UW System.

"Fantasy baseball researchers to pol: It's not all fun and games," Capital Times, July 17.

UW-Madison researchers said their work -- funded by a grant from a nonprofit foundation -- will serve to educate citizens on how people use online learning environments in everyday life.
