Beginning this fall, UW-Oshkosh student IDs can double as a debit and ATM card if students decide to open an account with U.S. Bank. The article raises questions about the national trend of bank-sponsored student ID cards and revenue-sharing provisions with campuses.

UW-Eau Claire strategic planning efforts will enlist the help of the campus community and Chippewa Valley residents.

"Chancellor didn't read fired prof's testimony," Associated Press, June 16.

New documents were recently released regarding the case of a UW-Superior professor who was fired in 2001.

"Prof was ousted for trysts with students," Associated Press, June 16.

A professor was removed from his position as department chair in March of this year. Recently released records indicate he had consensual relationships with two students. UWSP policies state that such relationships, even if consensual, should be avoided.

"UW puts hip-hop in the classroom," Capital Times, June 16.

A new summer program offered by UW-Madison will teach community leaders and teachers how to use spoken word and hip-hop in the classroom.

"UW-Extension move a sound idea," Editorial, Sheboygan Press, June 17.

An editorial supporting the proposed move of UW-Extension offices from Sheboygan Falls to the UW-Sheboygan campus.

State

"GOP asked early about blocking budget," Milwaukee Journal Sentinel, June 16.

Republican members of the Assembly asked the non-partisan Legislative Fiscal Bureau what the implications would be if they do not pass the state budget.

This editorial urges lawmakers to pass domestic partner benefits because the cost of not doing so puts the state at a distinct economic disadvantage.

National

"Interpreting the Sunshine Act," Inside Higher Education, June 18.

The Association of Governing Boards of Colleges and Universities is concerned that the language used in the Student Loan Sunshine Act may be too broad.
