"UWS recognizes Marcovich with honorary degree," Superior Daily Telegram, May 21.

Former Regent President Toby Marcovich received an honorary doctor of humane letters degree from UW-Superior; Marcovich and his wife Sharon, who is an alumna of UW-Superior, have helped improve the northern Wisconsin campus through donations and community advocacy.

"Remembering the victim of campus anti-war violence," Editorial, La Crosse Tribune, May 22.

This editorial pays tribute to Robert Fassnacht, the physicist who was killed when UW-Madison's Sterling Hall was bombed in 1970; the campus recently unveiled a plaque remembering the incident and Fassnacht.

"Skepticism over Adidas' Hermosa factory fix," Wisconsin Public Radio, May 21.

Members of UW-Madison's Labor Licensing Policy Committee continue to criticize the campus for not being more forceful with one apparel licensee involved in some alleged labor infractions; UW-Madison officials recently announced the campus would donate a portion of the royalties it receives from the company to workers at one factory where the apparel was formerly produced.

"Beebe set to tie college results to state funds," Arkansas Democrat Gazette, May 12.

Arkansas Gov. Mike Beebe said he favors an overhaul of funding for public higher education in which the state would grant more funding to colleges and universities where retention and graduation rates increase.

"Columbia fires its director of student aid," New York Times, May 22.

Documents show that Columbia University's former financial aid director encouraged students and alumni to use the services of a student loan company in which he had a personal stake.
