Comparatively lower salaries may be contributing to the upcoming departure of four UW-Madison political science faculty; three other faculty in the department, including the chair, will soon retire.

State

The increasing ease with which students at Wisconsin's technical colleges can transfer credits to complete four-year degrees in the UW System will serve the state's employment needs and help strengthen the economy.

Gov. Jim Doyle said he will work to ensure the Wisconsin Covenant is adequately funded, the program would provide state eighth graders who meet certain academic and nonacademic criteria with guaranteed admission to a Wisconsin college or university.

"Domestic partner benefit plan off budget," Spectator, May 7.

The UW continues to advocate for a state proposal that would allow Wisconsin to provide domestic partner benefits to state and university employees.
