UW-Madison announced the campus has reached a settlement agreement with a student group, one that should assist both organizations in the future, according to campus officials.

UW-Madison officials said it selected a tract of land as a potential site for the Department of Homeland Security's National Bio- and Agro-Defense Facility because it was the only site that could make the campus a competitive choice for the location of the facility.

"Gundersen Lutheran, UW to form rural medicine partnership," La Crosse Tribune, May 4.

Under a new partnership with Gundersen Lutheran, third- and fourth-year medical students at the UW School of Medicine and Public Health interested in rural primary care can enter the Wisconsin Academy of Rural Medicine program at Gundersen clinics in several Wisconsin communities.

Every Friday, music education students at UW-La Crosse meet with pre-schoolers at the campus's child care center where they try to build a listening and singing vocabulary for the children to help them learn through songs, chants and other vocal and rhythmic patterns.

"Colleagues reported professor," Stevens Point Journal, May 4.

A group of faculty at UW-Stevens Point were responsible, according to this article, for reporting a fellow professor for alleged misconduct.

"If kids sign Covenant, Doyle must keep promise," Editorial, Appleton Post-Crescent, May 4.

By the time the first group of eighth graders to sign up for the Wisconsin Covenant -- a program wherein students who maintain certain academic and nonacademic standards will be guaranteed admission to a Wisconsin college or university -- reach college in 2011, Gov. Jim Doyle should use all necessary political capital to ensure the program can be adequately funded.
