The UW System is seeking feedback from campus community members regarding possible changes to the university's code of conduct, which has not been updated for several years.

On Campus

An editorial lauding the collaborative efforts of UW-Marshfield/Wood County and Mid-State Technical College under a program that would allow Mid-State students to transfer a significant number of credits toward a UW-MC associate degree in general studies.

UW-Madison should work to encourage the inclusion of domestic partner benefits in the upcoming biennial state budget as a way to recruit and retain star faculty and staff.

"UWO studying minority student achievement gap," Oshkosh Northwestern, April 30.

UW-Oshkosh's work on the Equity Scorecard project, designed to close the achievement gap between students of color and white students in the UW System, identified the number and percentage of each group that earned a D, F or withdrew from 32 general education classes or classes needed to get into major or minor programs.

UW-Milwaukee has plans to offer a total of nearly 125 online courses.

The first annual Wiscontrepreneur Challenge gave teams of UW-Madison students 100 hours and $10 to turn materials found at a second-hand store into a marketable invention.

"UW-Stout students design homeless shelters," Eau Claire Leader-Telegram, April 30.

A St. Paul-based company selected a design by two UW-Stout students for one-person homeless shelters as the most viable for mass production; students have raised enough money to produce 50 shelters to be given to homeless in the Twin Cities.

UW-Madison housing officials said, despite the higher price, students flock to more expensive, amenity-laden residences because they are newer and often better kept.

More than 60 UW-Stout student designers participated in last week's 2007 Silhouettes Fashion Show, putting on display their original apparel that, in some cases, took more than a year to design and create.

"UW-Whitewater's 13-year student ready to graduate," Janesville Gazette, April 27.

After 13 years as an undergraduate at UW-Whitewater, Johnny Lechner will graduate with three major and four minor degrees.

An editorial calling on the U.S. Congress to end an arrangement in which federal funds are used to subsidize private lenders for college students.
