The university will continue to advocate for the inclusion of domestic partner benefits for state workers in the upcoming biennial budget; UW-Madison is the only school in the Big Ten not to offer such benefits, which officials say makes it more difficult to recruit and retain faculty and staff.

On Campus

"UW, Mid-State partner to offer degrees," Marshfield News-Herald, April 27.

A new partnership between UW-Marshfield/Wood County and Mid-State Technical College will offer students more class choices for the campuses' associate of arts and science degrees and enable Mid-State students to transfer more easily to a UW System institution.

"UWSP considers cell phone alerts," Stevens Point Journal, April 27.

UW-Stevens Point officials said the campus is reviewing how it would contact students in case of a campus-wide emergency, and is considering upgrades to phone technology so the campus can contact students via text message.

"Students take alternative spring breaks," River Falls Journal, April 27.

More than 60 students and staff members from UW-River Falls used their spring break to participate in community service projects across the country.

"Princeton recognizes UW-Eau Claire campus for affordability," Badger Herald, April 27.

UW-Eau Claire's excellence in undergraduate research is one reason for recent recognition of the campus by the Princeton Review.
