The discovery of a written bomb threat in a UW-La Crosse residence hall bathroom caused a three-hour evacuation of the building; investigators found no dangerous materials during their search of the residence hall.

UW-Madison officials said departments should have the funding they need to to pay for research and project assistants; under a new policy, an $8,000 tuition remission comes out of research grants or department funds, rather than from a central university fund.

Colleges and universities often find themselves in a "double-bind" when dealing with students who face mental health issues, as acting, or failing to act, can both result in legal or financial damages to the institutions.
