UW-Green Bay's two top administrators are both finalists for positions at other institutions; Chancellor Bruce Shepard is a finalist for president of Western Michigan University, and Provost Sue Hammersmith is a finalist for provost at Eastern Illinois University and Edinboro University.

UW-Marshfield/Wood County wants to build a residence hall to recruit a greater number of students, college officials said; UW-Madison Chancellor John Wiley visited the institution this week as part of an ongoing effort to create more visibility for opportunities to begin higher education through the UW Colleges.

UW-River Falls is seeking to increase the number of international students on campus to 5 percent, and wants at least 50 percent of its overall student body have international experience while attending the institution.

UW-Rock County's forthcoming Allen Hall will house a library, computer labs, study space, offices and storage space; the campus also began construction of a new engineering facility earlier this month.

This columnist suggests one way to increase the number of talented, educated workers in Wisconsin is to reach out to natives of the state who have since moved elsewhere.
