"Legislators hear campus merger issue," Milwaukee Journal Sentinel, March 6.

UW System officials testified before a legislative committee to detail findings regarding the future of UW-Waukesha; merging the two-year college with UW-Milwaukee would involve greater costs than turning the institution into a "university center," through which other campuses could offer education through UW-Waukesha.

The UW System still makes budget and salary data available to members of the public upon request, but removed individual salary data from an online database after it found that other colleges and universities were using the information to "cherry pick" faculty from UW System campuses.

A UW-Madison law professor who allegedly made some controversial remarks formally responded to the accusations, offering an explanation but no apology.

"UW prominent in future of stem cell research," Wisconsin Public Radio, March 5.

One official from the Wisconsin Alumni Research Foundation discusses the medical potential for stem cells and the challenges UW-Madison researchers face in expanding their work.

"UWS officials: Land deal wasn't unusual," Superior Daily Telegram, March 3.

A UW-Superior land purchase was made to enhance the campus's gateway, and involved a piece of land the campus had been wanting to acquire since it exchanged it with a private company years ago.

State

"Don't threaten tuition reciprocity," Editorial, La Crosse Tribune, March 6.

A tuition reciprocity agreement between Wisconsin and Minnesota should not be threatened because of legislative decisions made in Minnesota to increase tuition at a greater rate and not give the annual payment Wisconsin gives Minnesota to make up the difference to the university.
