On the extremely rare occasion a student is admitted to a UW System campus without a high school diploma, he or she must demonstrate academic proficiency, and display special talents or come from unique circumstances.

A survey at UW-Eau Claire shows that coordinated alcohol prevention and education programming is helping to reduce alcohol use among students.

Officials from UW-Madison's Veterinary School said a dearth of large-animal veterinarians stems from the fact that fewer students grow up in rural communities and, thus, have less experience with large animals.

UW-Madison offers a number of programs designed specifically to assist students with children, including emergency childcare and parenting workshops.

Gov. Jim Doyle said higher education is among his top budget priorities, and that he wants to make programs more accessible to grow the state's knowledge economy workforce.

Cooperation between Wisconsin's National Stem Cell Bank and a British stem cell bank will enable companies to take advantage of expertise at both institutions.

An increasing number of veterans are taking advantage of Wisconsin's tuition reimbursement program and seeking higher education, often at a UW System campus.

"Minnesota bookkeeping cause of tuition reciprocity flare up, says Rhoades," RiverTowns.net, Feb. 13.

The Legislative Fiscal Bureau and Wisconsin legislators will meet this week to find solutions to the state's tuition reciprocity agreement with Minnesota, which wants to make changes to the long-standing arrangement.
