Legal experts say a recent Supreme Court ruling could lead more licensees of university patents to sue universities in an effort to defeat academic patents; licensees who sue do not necessarily lose their existing licenses, experts say.

An American Association of Colleges and Universities report details the "essential learning outcomes" college and university students should achieve through course curricula; the report urges individual institutions to design instruction to emphasize team learning and real-world experiences.
