UW-Milwaukee Provost Rita Cheng said the campus is working to ensure its student government, currently suspended by campus administrators, operates with transparency and accountability.

UW-Oshkosh Chancellor Richard Wells said he will remain at the campus after being a finalist for the presidency at the College of Charleston.

Royce C. Engstrom, one of five finalists for chancellor at UW-La Crosse, heralded the campus's growth and access agenda as a viable solution to financial challenges currently facing the campus.

UW-Madison officials said because students do not have the authority to alter campus employee wages, the campus may not enact the changes recommended in the recent Living Wage Initiative, a campus ballot initiative approved last week by UW-Madison students.
"UWM group gives no-bid contract to Doyle donor," Associated Press, Oct. 25.
UW System officials said the UW-Milwaukee Real Estate Foundation, not the state, is in charge of handling the construction of a new residence hall on that campus; state politicos have accused Gov. Jim Doyle of awarding the no-bid contract to campaign contributors.

With adequate funding from the state Legislature, the UW System's tuition increases for the next two academic years would be the lowest in 25 years.
