A column favoring the Board of Regents' position against an upcoming Wisconsin ballot referendum in order to protect the university's ability to recruit and retain key faculty and staff.

"Parkside gets largest gift in its history: $4.5 million donation to fund building addition," Racine Journal Times, Oct. 10.

A private donation of $4.5 million from an area resident will help UW-Parkside renovate its Communication Arts building, which will now carry the name "Dhaliwal Hall" in honor of the donor's family.

To strengthen the entrepreneurial climate in Madison, especially with regard to UW-Madison research, the Wisconsin Alumni Research Foundation will create a new position specifically designed to help create start-up companies.
