UW System Board of Regents President David Walsh said he has encouraged faculty groups to focus on the substance of claims for faculty dismissal rather than the process with which such dismissals are carried out; Regents and members of faculty governance groups disagree on some proposed changes to the current dismissal policy.

After allegations of misuse of a campus credit card, UW-Whitewater asked former dean Howard Ross to give back reportedly misused funds.

UW-Eau Claire is in the midst of its annual Hispanic Heritage Month celebration, during which students have a multitude of opportunities to learn about Hispanic culture.

Members of the education, business and civic communities were all on-hand for the Synergy Conference to learn about Wisconsin's ongoing transition from an "economy of goods" to an economy of innovation; University of Wisconsin System President Kevin Reilly urged state reinvestment in public higher education.

Students are not leaving Wisconsin after graduating because of higher tax rates, an idea referenced by gubernatorial candidates; instead, these graduates are flocking to major metropolitan areas like Chicago and the Twin Cities because those cities offer more jobs and opportunities for highly-educated workers.
