Continual state cuts to the UW budget have led to increased tuition, noncompetitive faculty salaries, and the state's "F" in affordability of higher education in a recent report.

"UWO growth isn't without worries," Oshkosh Northwestern, Sept. 17.

UW-Oshkosh Chancellor Richard Wells said the goal behind the campus's ambitious expansion plan is to increase the number of four-year college degree-holders in Northeastern Wisconsin.

"Green ad criticizes UW policies," Associated Press, Sept. 16.

Wisconsin gubernatorial candidate Mark Green received criticism over his use of actors in an advertisement that addresses certain university policies; UW-Madison Chancellor John Wiley roundly rejected Green's claims that nonresident students receive preferential admissions treatment.

"Make the most of M2," Editorial, Milwaukee Journal Sentinel, Sept. 16.

This editorial about cooperation between Madison and Milwaukee suggests that investment in academic research at UW-Milwaukee or merging UW-Waukesha and UWM would be ways to fulfill the Wisconsin Idea.
